Well, this is the last blog of our journey from before we had our soft opening on November 18, 2023. As you all know, we had hoped to complete this part of our journey before we opened the doors. However, to many things had to be done, so the blog was put on hold. With that being said, lets get to the last room that we will write about, the salon.
This room had pale yellow walls, white ceiling, molding, and trim, only a subfloor, and a gold chandelier. As with the rest of the house, we beached the walls, trim, molding, and ceilings. We cleaned the floors and chandelier, well everything of course.
As you can see, we have a lot of things in this room, but that will change of course. Remember our plans on how we were going to manage working on this house changed and we had to move things wherever we could and we worked around things until we could move them in their proper places.
A sink and cabinets needed to be added to this room for storage and cleaning. So, we added two floor cabinets and 2 wall cabinets. These cabinets and the counter top will be painted.
We painted the walls using Valspar 4000 Eggshell Finish Paint in Clay Angel. The ceiling, the Allen + Roth White Composite Ceiling Medallion and the recess lighting covers were painted with a flat ceiling paint in white. The crown molding, door, shutters, and trim were all painted with Valspar 4000 Semi-Gloss Finish in White. We decide to keep the gold chandelier. Two floor cabinets with a counter top and two wall cabinets were added as well. A sink will be added to the counter a little later.
Now, we needed to work on getting an idea of the place of the salon equipment. After a few times rearranging things, we decided on the layout. We also painted the cabinets white and the countertop black.
Now, it’s time for the flooring to be put down. We used the same Duralux Performance Waterproof Luxury Vinyl in Auburn Acacia as we used in the hall, bathroom, aesthetics room, and kitchen.
All that was left to do was to set the room up and so we got to work. We hung a wooden coat rack up for the salon capes We also hung plants over each station, and added gold wall hangers, black framed mirrors, a small wall shelf for holding brushes and such, a three shelf stand and a clover shaped table (one grey and one white) at each station. We also hung a beautiful picture of flowers and two off-white and gold frames in which we added combs and sheers for our version of some artwork.
Now we are caught up with the before we opened. We hope you have enjoyed what we have written and have shown you. We have truly enjoyed writing about this part of our journey.
